Leading Teacher Teams - your first 30 days (Aug 7 repeat)

🌞 It's that time of year again - summer break is drawing to a close and educators are beginning to ponder a return to school. This year, who knows what it will really look like.

And maybe the July 31 session was not the best timing for you. So here is an alternative date for a live repeat of the First 30 Days webinar.

Are you feeling ready to start leading your team in 'interesting' times?

πŸ‘‰ Team meetings occupy precious time.

πŸ‘‰ Often, not everyone wants to be there.

πŸ‘‰ Often, people are not clear on why meet as a group.

πŸ‘‰ Often, people are absent while present. Emails, marking, distractions (face-to-face and online).

πŸ‘‰ Then there is the stuff you have to hand down - another change, another initiative.

Leading an academic team can feel isolating and challenging.

So here's my plan.

πŸ‘‰ Create purpose for the year for your team so that forward action becomes clear. This unloads you from the need to motivate.

πŸ‘‰ Create ways of working that support the team's purposeful action. This unloads some of the work managing people in your team.

πŸ‘‰ Build empathy for and within your team, where you know people and the challenges they face. Learn how to do this in a 90-minute online learning session with me. Walk away with new processes, resources and knowledge on how to set up your first 30 days of leading your team.

πŸ‘‰ Some leadership development programs focus on the crucial first 90 days of new leadership.

In education, we have less time than this - by the time 90 days have elapsed, the first term is usually over. As a teacher leader, I reckon you have 30 days to establish your team culture.

The three prime activities above are what every teacher leader could and should lead in order to establish the right forward action, robust empathy, and a productive culture.

Do these three things and your team will be able to better navigate through and perform in what is likely to be continuing challenge in the coming 12 months.

These three Actions will be explored and defined as processes you can follow:

  1. Establishing the Primary Purpose of the team - what will your team be striving to achieve in this current academic year

  2. Establish Ways of Working that support the purpose and make it easier for you as a leader to manage unhelpful behaviours in your team.

  3. Build an empathic understanding of your team and its individuals - especially around the problems and challenges they face in both executing their teaching roles and meeting the aspiration of the team’s purpose.

Takeaway resources and ongoing support will be made available during the session.

A nominal cover charge of $19.97 (SGD) will help defray the cost of delivery. Later, other similar sessions will be available to support you in your leadership journey.
